Yeh Lehenga Nahin Mehenga

Sustainable fashion was not a part of our vocabulary ten years ago, but it is now. It is largely due to our unhealthy relationship with retail therapy, and our growing aversion to wastage on the other hand. Flyrobe addresses this very conundrum – how to have a diverse wardrobe without the associated expense.

Flyrobe is a premium wedding wear rental service with operations in over 30 cities, it aims to create an experience for its customers where they wear elegant pieces of clothing without having to spend on them; and contribute to sustainable and affordable fashion.

“Renting garments is the easiest sustainable and economical choice you can make. You are contributing to the environment and at the same time you are saving money,” states Aanchal Saini Gujral, the CEO and owner of Flyrobe.

With over 4,000 curators at the backend, this seven-year-old brand also has its focus on renting out premium products. For instance, a Sabyasachi worn by a bride on her wedding day will land up in the wardrobe gathering dust later. Instead, she could rent the product out to

Flyrobe so it could be used several times over. “You are saving 25,000 liters of water just by not buying a new garment and renting it out instead,” shares Aanchal.

The Hyderabad store, located in Banjara Hills, offers a wide range of wedding wear from renowned fashion houses like, Sabyasachi, Gaurav Gupta, Abhinav Mishra, Rimple and Harpreet, Seema Gujral and more.

The pieces, which have a rental period of four days, include lehengas, gowns, anarkalis and possibly, an upcoming line-up of pre-draped saris for women. For men, they have sherwanis, Indowestern clothing, suits and tuxedos. The accessories on display include safas and jewelry sets all of which can be used even for a pre-wedding photoshoot, which Aanchal reveals has become a huge deal.

Our favorite piece was the pink lehenga set made of raw silk, cotton, net and an incredible amount of mirror work. Originally valued at over three lakhs and now rented out at Flyrobe for just a little over 30,000, it is a breathtaking set we could not take our eyes off.

So do your bit for the environment, save yourself some money and wear a highend designer label for your special day. You will thank yourself later. n IPSHITA
